The Opportunity
They are set to grow over the next few months, and AI is becoming a core part of how they deliver for their clients. We are looking for an AI/Agentic Systems Engineer who can partner directly with elite clients, shape smart solutions, and ship them. The sky is the limit as they scale, with lots of exciting projects and growth opportunities on the table.
You:
* Are fluent in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, and comfortable shipping production systems end to end
* Have hands‐on experience with LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar) and understand how to design prompts, tools, and context for reliable behaviour
* Have built agentic systems before: tool use, function calling, multi‐step orchestration, evaluation loops, and know where each one tends to break
* Understand retrieval and grounding: embeddings, vector search, reranking, chunking strategies
* Think about cost, latency, caching, and failure modes as first‐class concerns, not afterthoughts
* Have experience working directly with clients and can bring a strategic mindset to client solutions
* Share knowledge. You are collaborative, enjoy learning from those around you, and have a team mindset
* Have an interest in the Shopify ecosystem and how AI can genuinely improve ecommerce outcomes
* Bonus if you have: Shopify experience, shipped developer facing products, or worked on evaluation harnesses for LLM systems
What success looks like over the next 12 months
* Liaising with clients, defining the AI strategy for their projects, ensuring that all key stakeholders' perspectives are accounted for, and providing winning solutions through collaboration with a cross‐functional team
* Designing and shipping AI features that enhance their clients' Shopify experiences, from intelligent merchandising and content to customer facing assistants and back of house automation
* Collaborating closely with their designers, strategists, and developers to weave AI into client projects from concept through to launch
* Supporting the wider team with internal AI tooling that helps them deliver faster and at a higher quality bar
* Establishing patterns for evaluation, observability, and iteration so every AI system we ship is measurably reliable
* Debugging and testing AI behaviour to keep quality high as models, data, and requirements change
* Developing reusable components and libraries for future use, documenting the development process and user guides as you go
* Participating in code reviews and staying at the frontier, keeping its edge in how agencies use AI for clients
What you want:
* To walk us through AI or agent systems you've shipped, and what you learned when they broke
* A place where you can own projects, working closely with Elite Clients, knowing there is an experienced team around you to lean on as needed
* A remote‐first culture, with 1 day per week in the office (If Melbourne based, open to other states in Australia)
