Technical Director - Secondary and Protection
Phillip Riley has partnered with a Tier 1 consultancy looking for an experienced Technical Director – Secondary & Protection to lead the delivery of innovative electrical design solutions. This role is based in Melbourne, with interstate relocation considered.
What You'll Do
* Oversee and provide technical leadership across secondary designs and protection settings for complex HV substation projects.
* Provide technical leadership across bids, proposals, and project pursuits, identifying new opportunities for growth.
* Manage the delivery of multidisciplinary design projects, ensuring collaboration and quality at every stage.
* Support and mentor engineers in their professional development.
* Promote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering design and delivery.
What You'll Bring
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* 12+ years of experience in high‑voltage substation design.
* Strong background in secondary systems and protection settings.
* Excellent consulting and client relationship skills, with a strong commercial mindset.
* A collaborative leadership style and passion for mentoring junior team members.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to turn technical detail into actionable outcomes.
