We are seeking experienced Design Critics to help evaluate, critique, and shape how AI systems interpret and analyze visual design across mediums. This role is ideal for individuals with backgrounds in visual arts, art history, design criticism, visual journalism, or theory‐forward design practice who are excited about interrogating aesthetics, composition, and visual reasoning.
Qualifications
* 1+ years of professional experience in a visual, critique‐based, or design‐adjacent field (including design marketing or journalism).
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in any design field (e.g., Art History, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Design Theory, Architecture, Visual Culture Studies, Film & Media Studies, Illustration, Editorial Design, Journalism with a visual or arts focus).
* Exposure working with LLMs, GenAI prompting, and vibe coding.
* Experience writing or speaking critically about visual work (e.g., reviews, essays, critiques, studio feedback, editorial analysis, academic writing, design commentary).
* Currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Europe, Australia, or Brazil.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
* Work 10–20 hours per week on experimental design workflows with frontier AI models, with potential for increased hours based on performance.
* Collaborate asynchronously with a team of designers across disciplines.
* Craft, critique, and review experimental design workflows using AI.
* Participate in a short AI interview about your creative process, followed by a portfolio review and written assessment.
* Role will begin in early March with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
