MERIT Case Worker - Griffith (Incentives Offered)
Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is looking for a motivated and skilled Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) Case Worker Health Clinician. The MERIT Program provides case management for defendants who have entered the criminal justice system and have a demonstrable alcohol or other drug issue. The purpose of this position is to provide accurate assessments and written reports to the Courts and facilitate intensive case management of defendants throughout the bail period.

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (until 28 June 2026)
Remuneration: $72,152.53 - $113,226.00 per annum, pro rata (+super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)
Hours Per Week: up to 38

About the role
The focus of this role is to provide high quality Alcohol and Other Drug clinical service to clients with issues related to their alcohol or drug use and legal issues (in Local Courts within MLHD) that have been referred to the MERIT program, to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for clients of the service.
Identified Outcomes
* Provide counselling and support to clients and their families as identified in the client's case plan and in accordance with best practice and evidence-based treatment approaches.
* Provide exceptional care through integrated and coordinated service models.
* Provide advice to the Court in relation to the defendant's eligibility and suitability for admission to the MERIT program.

About Griffith MERIT Team
The MERIT team has approximately six multidisciplinary clinicians and administration staff who provide the MERIT service. We work closely with the local courts and other community organisations to ensure people receive the right care for their needs.

* Have an in-depth understanding and ability to provide MERIT Case Work services in a curious and empathetic way
* Demonstrate a high level of professionalism with ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Be able to manage and prioritise a diverse workload
* Hold a relevant Australian qualification as a Counsellor, Psychologist, Social Worker or Registered Nurse, or must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
