Employment Coach Role
This role supports individuals with deafness or hard-of-hearing to achieve their goals and thrive in meaningful work.
* Preparation for, securing and sustaining employment is a key aspect of this position.
* Job search support, including resume writing and interview coaching, is also provided.
* The Employment Coach will build relationships with employers, community partners and referral agencies, provide communication assistance to workplaces, and assist in workplace adjustments to ensure inclusion.
Auslan skills are essential, as well as the ability to perform administrative tasks accurately and keep records updated consistently. Working under supervision from senior staff members who understand your efforts put towards assisting clients find permanent jobs within different sectors depending upon their needs.
Responsibilities include:
1. Sourcing and preparing job opportunities that match the skills and abilities of clients.
2. Providing ongoing support to clients during the recruitment process and beyond.
3. Maintaining effective relationships with employers, community partners and referral agencies to secure job opportunities.
4. Developing and maintaining knowledge of disability employment initiatives and best practices.
5. Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to increase employment outcomes for clients.
To be successful in this role you will require strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and employers alike. You will also need to possess a high level of empathy and understanding of the experiences of people with deafness or hard-of-hearing.
