The RMIT UP Foundation Studies Program is delivered to an Australian Year 12 comparable standard. It is nationally recognised as a program that equips international students with the skills and capabilities to seek entry into higher education programs in Australia. This program is designed to prepare students for a seamless transition into a range of higher education programs. It develops a mix of discipline knowledge, academic English and study skills in a supportive, flexible and learner-centred environment. It aims to assist students to become independent, critical and lifelong learners and to maximise their potential for success in an Australian university context. About the role In this position, you will be responsible for the teaching delivery of two courses at RMIT UP; Data Analytics and Introduction to Software Development. Duties include assessment, monitoring academic progress of students, contributing to the development of the Foundation Studies curriculum and providing an outstanding student experience. These courses are designed to assist Foundation STEM students develop the skills and knowledge necessary for further tertiary studies. Key subject themes include: Introduction to Software Development: This skill-based course equips students with the skills to design and built everyday digital products from concept to implementation. Students work in a startup-style environment to design, build, and test a solution while considering legal and ethical responsibilities around user data. Data Analytics: This skill-based course introduces students to key concepts in data analytics, focusing on how data is processed, managed, and used to inform decisions in real-world contexts. Students develop practical skills in Excel, SQL, and data project management while building an understanding of ethical and legal considerations in handling and communicating data. Course Descriptions Here are the course descriptions for subjects taught in the Foundation Studies program in RMIT UP- https://www.rmit.edu.au/study-with-us/levels-of-study/pre-university-study/foundation-studies/foundation-studies-fs022 (Click “View Plan”) About You To be successful in this position you will have: Essential Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering and assessing Foundation Studies or equivalent courses Experience in relevant industry and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position Capacity to identify learning problems in students, propose and implement effective strategies Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies A recognised degree relevant to the course being taught plus: A formal qualification in the delivery of education OR minimum two years’ relevant teaching experience, including breadth of experience in delivering to students from non-English speaking backgrounds. The minimum requirements for teachers primarily responsible for academic English language subject areas are: A recognised degree AND An appropriate English language teaching qualification AND 2 years ESL/EFL teaching experience Desirable Experience teaching in a Foundation Studies or a year 12 equivalent program educating international students; Experience teaching in a tertiary setting. TESOL (English Language Teaching Qualification) for teachers responsible for English subject areas.
