The role:
We are seeking a motivated Youth Peer Mentor: Transition to Work (TtW) to join our team based in Mirrabooka.
This exciting role is central to the delivery of the Transition to Work program in Perth North.
As a Youth Peer Mentor, you will build strong and positive relationships with young participants, supporting them to engage in education, training and employment pathways.
You will provide a voice for young people in the design of the services they receive, while creating meaningful community connections that strengthen their opportunities for the future.
You will be a person-centred, engaging and empathetic mentor who is passionate about working alongside young people.
With strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will empower participants to overcome challenges, celebrate their strengths and achieve their goals.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Relevant experience in youth support services or a similar industry
- A sound understanding of the challenges faced by young people, particularly those who are disadvantaged or disengaged
- Demonstrated ability to engage and build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a focus on supporting young people to stay in education or employment
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with schools, community organisations, and other key stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a target-driven team
- Computer literacy across Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet and database systems
- Qualifications in Community Development, Youth Work, Behavioural or Social Sciences (desirable but not essential)
