We are a warm and supportive family living in Caulfield North with an affectionate little 13-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our son has a love for the outdoors, music and dancing and will keep you fit. You will be assisting and supporting him with transitions after school with a strong focus on helping him develop personal independence and assisting with speech therapy. The role is a dual role providing both core and therapy support. You will attend weekly Speech Therapy sessions and receive training from a Senior Speech Pathologist as well as exposure to a wider therapy team including Occupational Therapists. You will occasionally be looking after his cheeky little 11-year-old brother, providing basic home support and occasional respite for us, his parents.
Specific experience with autism or special needs children is preferred.
You must love working with children and the role requires a good level of fitness and mobility. Candidates who are creative with a love for music, dance and art will be highly regarded. A childlike attitude towards fun is a big advantage.
A minimum of 1+ years experience working with children is required.
The role is flexible, with days and hours ranging anywhere from hours per week doing 3-5 hour sessions. We have flexible days available Monday to Friday from 2:30pm - 6:30pm with some weekend work, holiday work and the occasional evening shift.
If you are you interested and passionate about working with young children and providing support to families in need, have your own transport and are willing to obtain the required checks, then we would like to hear from you.
Please note a drivers license is required for this role and candidates must have a Working with Children Check.
Please email your resume and availability with a brief statement as to why you feel you are suited to this role.
If successful we will be in touch to discuss the role further and organise a meeting with our son.
