We’re looking for a calm, confident, and compassionate support professional with experience in complex mental health. In this hands-on role, you'll support a participant living with schizophrenia and high-needs behaviours. Based in Toowoomba, the position offers a week-on, week-off roster.
Due to the participant’s personal care and support needs, this role is only open to female applicants only.
About the role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support a woman with complex mental health and behavioural needs. You will support with managing her daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and routine building. Additionally, you will support emotional and psychological development, helping to build confidence, self-esteem, and communication skills, while ensuring she has the necessary support to thrive both in her home and within the community.
Key accountabilities:
* Lead day-to-day SIL operations in a person-centred, trauma-informed way
* De-escalate high-intensity behaviours with confidence and care
* Administer or coordinate medication support (hospital liaison if required)
* Maintain detailed behaviour documentation and reporting
* Liaise with clinical teams and support implementation of PBSP
* Ensure safe, respectful care and a stable environment

What we are looking for
* Background in psychiatric nursing, mental health, or complex behaviour support
* Experience working with high-intensity, physical and complex behavioural participants
* Calm under pressure and skilled in behaviour de-escalation
* Confident in managing physical/verbal aggression and complex behaviours.
* A deep sense of empathy, patience, and understanding
You have or can obtain the following:
* Blue Card, WWCC and NDIS Screening/Yellow Card
* First Aid and CPR Certificate
* Drivers licence
* Reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
Ideal but not mandatory:
* Cert IV in mental health or equivalent
* Maybo Training – Positive Behaviour Support or similar
