About us: Montrachet is one of Brisbane’s most iconic French fine‑dining restaurants. The restaurant blends classic French techniques with modern twists, underpinned by high‑quality local ingredients. Who we are seeking: We want someone who is positive, passionate and dedicated. You will need to be interested in French food and want to learn how dishes are created in order to share this knowledge with our customers. All our waitstaff are hands-on and assist one another to run the food, serve beverages, polish cutlery, restock and open/close the restaurant.
Job Duties:
- Ensure the restaurant floor, tables and function spaces are set and ready for service
- Maintain the cleanliness and restock equipment of the restaurant floor and function rooms at all times
- Ability to take reservations, greet customers and present them with menus and beverage lists
- Set up & pack down the restaurant floor and function rooms at the end of service
- Thorough understanding of all available food and beverage menu items, recommend dishes and wines to complement food
- Thorough understanding of the order of service (sequence of service) by taking orders and using the POS systems to relay orders to the kitchen and bar
- Proficient use of POS for ordering and billing purposes
- Execution of the order of service in a timely and accurate manner to achieve superior service delivery
- Undertake general waiting duties of both food and/or beverage, including serving food/ drinks and clearing of tables
- Ability to present and open wine bottles, mix liquor and assist in the cellar
- Ability to manage a given section during service periods and communication with other section waiter and fellow employees
- Delivery of exceptional and professional customer service at all times
- Assist Floor Managers and Head Waiters with any necessary duties as directed
- Support and assist all members of your team whenever and wherever possible
Job requirements:
- certificate III in Hospitality (Restaurant Front of House) or equivalent qualification with at least one year experience in a similar position within a restaurant environment OR at least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position within a restaurant environment.
- Specialised skilled duties including: silver service / gueridon service, sequential service, crumbing down tables, engaging with customers, knowledge of food creation and wine notes, receiving and handling complaints and upselling products.
- An appropriate level of training or prior restaurant experience.
- Responsible Service of Alcohol licence.
- Good communication and confidence with staff and customers.
- Knowledge of French language advantageous but not essential.
