The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Senior Data Scientist to contribute to nationally significant programs. You will apply advanced data science, AI and statistical techniques to solve complex business challenges, influence decision-making, and support the delivery of large-scale initiatives. This role offers meaningful impact, cross-functional collaboration and the opportunity to help shape innovative, data-driven outcomes.
Your duties will include:
* Researching and implementing innovative AI, statistical and data science techniques to address complex business challenges
* Designing and developing statistical and mathematical models to support strategic initiatives
* Delivering analytical insights that inform operational and policy decisions
* Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with internal stakeholders
* Presenting findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
* Supporting ad hoc modelling and data science requests aligned to program objectives
Skills and Experience we are looking for:
* Minimum 4+ years' experience as a Data Scientist in public or private sector environments
* Strong Python or R programming skills including data manipulation, modelling and deployment
* Demonstrated application of AI and advanced data science techniques in real-world environments
* Experience managing and engaging with complex internal or external stakeholders
* Proficiency in SQL and working with databases or cloud-based data storage (e.g. AWS S3)
* Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and AI governance frameworks
