Goulburn Preparatory Early Learning Centre is seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join our supportive and friendly team on a casual or part-time basis.

About the Role
This position is not included in child-to-educator ratios, allowing you to focus on meal preparation and kitchen operations.
You will be responsible for preparing meals for up to 108 children per day, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.
Our centre operates on a 6-month seasonal menu with a 2-week rotating cycle, and you will:
* Follow established recipes and menus
* Work closely with Head Office for planning, compliance, and support
* Work collaboratively with another cook in the kitchen
This is a Monday to Friday role only – enjoy your weekends free!
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare nutritious meals in line with our set 2-week rotating menu
* Follow recipes provided and maintain consistency in food quality
* Cater for children with allergies, intolerances, and dietary requirements
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and allergy-safe practices
* Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleaning practices
* Manage stock, ordering, and kitchen organisation
* Ensure compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements
* Work collaboratively with the Centre Director, Head Office, and kitchen team
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Experience cooking for large groups (80–100+ meals per day preferred)
* Strong understanding of allergy-safe food preparation and cross-contamination requirements
* Confidence in following structured menus and recipes
* Ability to work in a team environment and take direction
* Knowledge of food safety and cleaning practices
* Strong organisation and time management skills
* A positive and reliable team-focused attitude
Requirements
* Valid Working with Children Check (NSW)
* Current Child Protection training/certificate
* Previous experience in a similar cooking role
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher)
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
