About the opportunity

We are seeking an outstanding Research Fellow to join the Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases Research Program within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research that aims to improve health outcomes for people living with complex autoimmune and multi‑organ rheumatic diseases.

The Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases Research Program investigates the clinical and epidemiological aspects of conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis and myositis. The Program's work centres on improving cardiopulmonary outcomes by:

* advancing understanding of disease pathophysiology

* optimising pharmacotherapy and treatment strategies and,

* applying exercise‑based interventions to enhance physical function.

Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to translate research insights into improved clinical care and patient wellbeing.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

* contribute to high‑quality research projects within the program, including designing and implementing clinical exercise research trials

* manage ethics and governance applications including service agreements

* conduct research related activities (obtaining informed consent, conducting assessments and implementing the intervention)

* lead and support data collection, analysis and manuscript preparation

* manage the research budget

* collaborate with clinical and research team members

* present research findings through publications and conferences

* supervise PhD, Masters and Honors students

* manage and support research staff

* support the development of exercise‑related and clinical research initiatives

* contribute to grant applications and program development activities.

About You:

* PhD in a relevant discipline such as exercise physiology, rheumatology, or related fields

* accredited Exercise Physiologist

* experience designing clinical trials and conducting research involving systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases and exercise

* expertise in assessing systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease patients and implementing exercise programs in a research setting

* strong analytical skills and experience with qualitative, quantitative and clinical research methods

* experience presenting at research forums

* ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

* a commitment to producing research with real‑world clinical impact

* experience recruiting and consenting research participants

* current GCP.
