We provide testing services across Test Strategies, Test Management, Program Management, Load and Performance testing, and end-to-end functional testing. We are seeking confident, experienced, and motivated professionals to join our team for a contract in office role in Sydney, NSW.
Role Description
This is a contract on-site role for a Test Data Engineer located in Sydney, NSW. The Data Engineer will be heavily involved in testing activities and primarily responsible for executing test cases, performing software testing, developing and maintaining test documentation, and collaborating with the development team to identify and resolve issues. Additional tasks may include participating in test design, attending meetings, communicating test results, defect management and data analytics defect fixes.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer with expertise in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in testing data models, analytics, and reporting solutions across enterprise data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive testing of data models and transformations across analytics and reporting layers.
- Validate data integrity and accuracy within Data Warehouses and Data Lakes using schematic model testing techniques.
- Conduct functional and regression testing of Power BI reports and data extracts to ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Collaborate with business analysts and developers to verify that business requirements are accurately reflected in the schematic data models.
- Utilise SQL (MS SQL Server) extensively to query, validate, and troubleshoot data issues.
- Support ETL testing processes and contribute to the validation of data pipelines.
- Leverage Microsoft Fabric and other modern data tools (where applicable) to enhance testing coverage and automation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in data modelling and transformation testing within analytics environments.
- Hands-on experience with Data Warehouse/Data Lake testing using schematic models.
- Strong proficiency in Power BI report testing and validation.
- Solid understanding of ETL processes and tools; experience with Microsoft Fabric is desired.
- Advanced SQL skills, particularly in Microsoft SQL Server.
- Ability to interpret and test business requirement models against technical data models.
