Teaching and Research Position
This is a full-time teaching and research position at the University of Queensland. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Digital Media.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for someone with expertise in digital media, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence-assisted digital media production, digital platforms, digital media analytics, data governance, and critical perspectives on digital media and society. The successful candidate will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supervise Higher Degree Research Students, conduct high-quality scholarship, and contribute to the collegial environment of the School and University.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in communication, digital media, media studies, or a closely related field. They will demonstrate a growing profile in teaching and research in the field, with evidence of high-quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels. Additionally, they will have experience in coordinating courses, contributing to curriculum design, and supervising honours and Higher Degree Research students.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Developing and delivering courses in digital media;
* Engaging in curriculum design and innovation;
* Coordinating courses and assessing students;
* Providing academic counselling and adhering to university teaching rules;
* Establishing a research program and collaborating on research projects;
* Seeking and managing research funding and publishing in reputable journals;
* Supervising students and recruiting employees;
* Providing performance feedback and training, resolving conflicts, and ensuring correct remuneration and benefits;
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
* A PhD in communication, digital media, media studies, or a closely related field;
* A growing profile in teaching and research in the field;
* Evidence of high-quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels;
* Experience in coordinating courses, contributing to curriculum design, and supervising honours and Higher Degree Research students;
* A strong track record of publication and successful pursuit of a mid to long-term research agenda;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
