Who are we:
Laserdyne Technologies designs and manufactures state-of-the-art land, sea, and air-borne electro-optical systems for defence customers worldwide. For over 30 years, we have delivered mission-critical hardware that operates in extreme environments where failure is not an option.
Our work spans electro-optics, lasers, thin-film optics, electronics, and mechanical systems. We are not a mass-production factory. We are a high-value, high-complexity manufacturing environment where craftsmanship, precision, and engineering judgement matter.
The role:
Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior PCB Technician to join our Electronics team.
This is not an SMD line role. We do not run a volume pick-and-place factory. Our value lies in what happens after boards are made: complex through-hole assembly, system integration, programming, test, stress screening, fault-finding, and repair.
While SMD population is largely outsourced, in-house work requires exceptional hand-soldering skill for prototypes, rework, modifications, and complex mixed-technology assemblies. This is a hands-on, craft-grade electronics role.
You will work on low-volume, high-complexity electronics that form the core of advanced defence systems. Every assembly is different. Every job matters.
You will be trusted with real responsibility in a production-meets-engineering environment.
The responsibilities include:
· Assemble complex electronic assemblies using through-hole and mixed-technology techniques
· Precision hand-solder SMD components for prototypes, rework, and complex assemblies
· Perform fine-pitch SMD rework under microscope
· Build and integrate PCB assemblies into higher-level systems
· Program and configure electronic assemblies and subsystems
· Perform functional testing, stress screening, and production verification
· Diagnose, fault-find, and repair PCB assemblies and electronic systems
· Interpret schematics, drawings, and build documentation
· Maintain accurate build records, test results, and inspection reports
· Support engineering with prototypes, rework, and design-for-manufacture feedback
· Maintain a disciplined, clean, and ESD-safe workspace
· Contribute to continuous improvement of build and test processes
Why work for us:
· High-tech manufacturing facility on the Central Gold Coast
· Continually interesting, non-repetitive work
· Core focus on engineering, R&D, and complex builds
· No weekend or after-hours work – 38-hour week over 4.5 days, finishing at noon on Fridays
· Friendly, professional team
· Real opportunities for growth and development
· Competitive remuneration based on experience
· Training and accreditation opportunities
What we need from you:
· 5+ years’ experience in electronics manufacturing or PCB assembly
· Expert-level hand soldering across through-hole and SMD technologies
· Proven ability to perform fine-pitch SMD rework under magnification
· Experience with test, debug, and fault-finding at board and system level
Due to the nature of our business only applicants who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents need apply.
