Perform clinical duties as a permanent part-time staff specialist in palliative care (0.3 FTE or 0.4 FTE) as determined by the Director of Palliative Care. This position will be primarily based at Neringah Hospital in Wahroonga and/or Pacific Centre in St Leonards, including care for patients referred to the community palliative care service, and providing and participating in palliative medicine education, research, quality improvement projects, and other related activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct appropriate medical assessments and treatments, collaborating with other palliative care professionals; ensure adequate documentation in patient medical records and appropriate referrals.
* Co‐operate with other medical officers professionally and courteously, maintaining opportunities for clinical advice.
* Maintain accurate records, ensuring concise, objective documentation and confidentiality of patient information.
* Review medical services regularly; develop, implement and review policies, procedures and standards in accordance with HammondCare Health and Hospitals, Northern Sydney Local Health District, and national quality and safety agencies.
* Engage in education to internal and external bodies, including formal and informal education, in‐services and training.
* Provide support to other medical staff, supervising junior staff as required.
* Manage day‐to‐day operations of the palliative care service, record and maintain statistics, ensure continuity of patient care and effective communication with external providers.
About you
* MBBS or equivalent, registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, registered as a specialist.
* Consistent demonstration of collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment in working with stakeholders, colleagues and patients.
* Experience as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Palliative Care Medicine.
* Ability to provide high‐quality compassionate care, evidenced by recent practice and patient satisfaction.
* Experience supporting teams to optimise service delivery.
* Commitment to quality improvement, clinical risk management and proactive change management.
* Ongoing professional development and commitment to education and research.
* Valid driver's licence in NSW.
