The purpose of the Seniors Volunteer Visitor role is to provide companionship and support to older individuals who are feeling lonely or socially isolated.
This involves regular visits to aging seniors in their homes, engaging in activities such as conversation, board games, listening to music, or sharing stories.
Clear communication skills, compassion, patience, and an ability to maintain client confidentiality and dignity are essential for this role.
Additionally, volunteers should be comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the program.
A commitment of 6 months is required, with a time commitment of 1 hour per week or fortnight between 9:00am - 5:00pm. Dedicated support and training through the Volunteer Program, access to an employee assistance provider, and a welcoming workplace culture are provided.
