Community Housing Central Australia (CHCA) is a not-for-profit community housing provider based in Alice Springs. We manage social and affordable housing programs that support families, communities and the wider region. Our organisation is growing, and we value clear communication, professionalism, accountability and accuracy. We are seeking temporary finance support to ensure operational continuity while our Finance Officer is on leave.
About the Role
CHCA is seeking a highly accurate, organised and dependable Accounts Coordinator to provide temporary finance coverage while our Finance Officer is on leave. This is a SCHADS Level 4 casual role with flexible hours and the option to work remotely.
The role suits someone who works methodically, follows structured processes, communicates clearly, and maintains high standards of accuracy across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations. You will work directly with the CEO to ensure financial operations continue without disruption.
Key Responsibilities
* Process weekly payroll in Xero, including SCHADS Award entitlements.
* Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
* Complete daily bank reconciliations and assist with month‑end tasks.
* Prepare supplier payments and maintain accurate records.
* Maintain audit‑ready documentation and follow financial procedures.
* Provide clear updates to the CEO and External Accountants on work status and outstanding items.
* Uphold confidentiality and ensure high levels of accuracy in all financial entries.
Skills and Experience
* Experience using Xero for payroll, payables, receivables and reconciliations.
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy and consistency in data entry.
* Ability to work independently and follow structured workflows.
* Experience with SCHADS Award payroll processing is desirable.
* Professional communication skills and confidence, seeking clarification when required.
* Ability to manage confidential information securely.
* Understanding, experience or ability to quickly learn Tenancy Management Systems (Chintaro, Government Systems).
* Experience with ATO and Superannuation requirements and payment.
* Experience working in a not-for-profit, housing, real estate or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
