Mechanical Engineer – Dandenong VIC
Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, are working with a well-established manufacturing business based in Dandenong VIC. Our client operates within the bedding industry with products such as mattress protection, pads, pillows and bedding range to sectors including the NDIS, hospitals, nursing homes, and other related markets. Producing over tens of thousands of units a month, they are busy and endlessly innovating.
Endlessly updating and enlarging their mechanical plant and equipment, our client requires a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to work with the management team as they execute their plans. Along with other members of the team, you will be responsible for applying your expertise to solving complex mechanical engineering issues. You will work closely with the Management team, allocating resources and ensuring successful delivery of projects.
Salary: A great salary is offered in the range of $75k to $90k plus superannuation per annum.
Tenure: The role is full-time and ongoing.
The duties and responsibilities of the position will include:
* Design and develop mechanical components, machinery, and plant systems to meet operational, safety, and industry standards.
* Conducting research to develop new products or improve existing ones. This involves staying updated with the latest technologies and innovations.
* Plan and optimise manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, efficiency, and compliance with specifications.
* Manage installation and upgrade projects, overseeing delivery, setup, and compliance with safety and engineering standards.
* Identifying and solving engineering problems using analytical methods and tools. This includes conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions.
* Overseeing maintenance operations, including the maintenance of electrical systems, forklifts, and other mechanical equipment. This also involves supervising a team of maintenance technicians.
* Prepare specifications and layouts for equipment and production systems, considering materials, capacity, and workflow efficiency.
* Establish and maintain procedures for commissioning, inspecting, and maintaining equipment to maximise performance and minimise downtime.
* Working closely with testing and quality assurance teams to ensure designs meet performance and safety standards. This includes providing training and technical support to production personnel.
* Maintaining accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, including process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
* Recommend design improvements and system modifications based on performance reviews and inspection outcomes.
* Effectively communicating with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on design goals and requirements.
You should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and strengths to be considered:
* Highly relevant bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* At least 3 or more years of verifiable relevant professional experience preferably in a similar manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in technical skills, engineering software, tools, and technologies related to mechanical engineering.
* Experience and proficiency in 3D CAD software, machining techniques, and assembly design principles.
* Developed skills in robotics and integration with mechanical plants and equipment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
* Excellent communication skills, patience and empathy.
* Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and compliance regulations.
* Be energetic and hard working.
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
