We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team at our Pearcedale site, supporting a high-hygiene food manufacturing operation where reliability, food safety and quality are critical.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant, processing and facility equipment to ensure smooth production in a fresh food environment.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing, enjoys problem-solving, and understands the importance of hygiene, food safety and audit compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain, service and repair food processing and packing equipment including conveyors, cutters, washers, weighers, sealers, chillers and compressors
* Respond promptly and safely to breakdowns and unplanned stoppages
* Carry out preventative and predictive maintenance to minimise downtime
* Perform welding, fabrication and fitting work as required
* Work within strict hygiene and food safety standards in a high-care environment
* Ensure maintenance activities do not introduce contamination risks
* Complete clean-downs and equipment reinstatement after maintenance works
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs and documentation
* Support internal and external audits through compliant maintenance practices
* Coordinate and oversee contractors where required
* Maintain workshop, tools and spare parts stock
About You
* Trade qualified Maintenance Fitter / Mechanic (or relevant trade)
* Restricted Electrical Licence – Disconnect and Reconnect
* Experience in food manufacturing or high-hygiene environments (highly regarded)
* Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and contamination controls
* Welding and fabrication experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills
* Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
* Comfortable working with maintenance systems and basic computer programs
Hours of Work
This role operates on a 5-day working week, with days worked across Monday to Saturday.
Occasional Sunday work may be required to support operational or maintenance needs.
