About the Role
Royal Hobart Hospital and the Department of Geriatric Medicine are seeking Staff Specialist – Geriatric Medicine to join our aged care department. The department has 106 inpatient beds and multiple sites in Hobart and offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient and research services for older adults.
Responsibilities
* Provide acute and subacute geriatric care for inpatients, including consultative services and shared care orthogeriatrics model.
* Deliver specialist outpatient clinics covering memory, falls, balance, movement disorders, geriatric oncology, continence and pain management.
* Lead comprehensive geriatric assessment and support allied health and nursing teams.
* Participate in regional outreach clinics and telehealth consultations.
* Engage in robust educational programs for undergraduates, allied health, nursing and postgraduate trainees.
* Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
* Hold specialist registration in Geriatric Medicine, OR be an International Medical Graduate on the specialist pathway, OR hold a recognised overseas specialist qualification with sufficient experience.
* Ability to work in a team‐based, patient‐focused environment and meet clinical and educational expectations.

Salary and Allowances
Base salary for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 ranges from $216,300 to $296,640, with additional increments and allowances based on experience and seniority, including vehicle allowance, continuing professional development allowance, accommodation services, on‐call allowance and other entitlements per the Tasmanian State Service Award.
