Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC, for a Power System Engineer. The role entails conducting power system studies, designing and analyzing electrical networks, and supporting projects involving power generation and electric power systems. The Power System Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and sustainable power solutions, while ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Oversee development of models and performance of studies using PSSE, PSCAD, PSS/Sincal and/or DIgSILENT
* Provide technical supervision, mentoring and support to a team of engineers
* Provide technical expertise to clients and external partners
* Manage grid connection studies and grid modelling activities
* Stay current with industry trends and NER technical requirements
* Lead and support the grid connection process for large-scale renewable projects.
* Liaise with AEMO, network service providers and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with NER, GPS and technical standards.
* Prepare and submit technical documentation, including GPS, R1 and R2 packages.
* Guide grid connection design requirements and technical matters to project teams.
* Stay across regulatory changes and share knowledge internally
Qualifications
* Proven experience with Power System Studies and expertise in Power Systems
* Strong background in Electrical Engineering and knowledge of Power Generation
* Proficiency in understanding and applying principles of Electric Power
* Ability to interpret technical documents, design specifications, and engineering standards
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
* Familiarity with relevant software tools and simulation platforms for power system analysis
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Experience in working on renewable energy or sustainable power projects is an advantage
