This role offers the opportunity to provide high quality psychiatric care within a well-established tertiary service, supported by strong clinical governance and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.About the Role The Staff Specialist Psychiatrist provides specialist psychiatric assessment and management for patients across medical, surgical and emergency departments, working closely with treating teams to support integrated, patient centred care.Key responsibilities include:Providing timely psychiatric consultation to inpatient medical, surgical and emergency teamsConducting comprehensive psychiatric and risk assessmentsSupporting multidisciplinary teams in the management of patients with complex physical and mental health needsLiaising with families, carers and community providers to ensure continuity of careContributing to service development, quality improvement and clinical governance activitiesParticipating in the after-hours on-call rosterWorking collaboratively with ATODS and Specialist Services as requiredFlexible full-time or part-time arrangements are available, with scope to tailor responsibilities to clinical interests and service needs.Teaching and Research Townsville University Hospital is the major teaching hospital for James Cook University, offering opportunities for:Academic appointment (where eligible)Teaching medical students and registrarsParticipation in research and service development initiativesRemuneration and BenefitsRemuneration package up to AUD $534,040 p.a.
