NES Fircroft is partnering with a leading global energy business to recruit a Senior Cost Engineer / Cost Engineer for their Brisbane-based projects.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Cost Engineer / Cost Engineer to join our clients Central Cost Team. This role is responsible for managing portfolio costs across Feasex, Capex, Abex, and Epex, providing accurate forecasting, cost control, and reporting throughout the full project lifecycle. You will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making and project delivery by working closely with project managers, planners, estimators, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain cost reporting dashboards using Power BI, leveraging advanced DAX for project performance tracking, variance analysis, and executive reporting.
* Prepare and present monthly cost reports, including earned value analysis.
* Support change management processes and monitor project expenditures against approved budgets.
* Collaborate with estimating teams to validate and benchmark cost estimates.
* Align cost data with project schedules and planning outputs.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance frameworks, and contractual obligations.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the cost engineering function.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
* Experience in cost engineering within complex project environments, ideally in oil & gas, mining, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
* Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX for data modeling and analytics.
* Proficiency in cost management tools such as SAP, Prism, EcoSys, or similar.
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Familiarity with project controls standards (AACE, PMI, or equivalent).
Preferred Skills
* Experience in both capital and brownfields projects.
* Knowledge of contract management and procurement processes.
* Professional certification (e.g., CCP, PMP) is a plus.
* Experience with Azure SQL for data integration and reporting is desirable.
