This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

East Kalgoorlie Primary School (EKPS) is situated on the eastern fringe of Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Williamstown. Our students reside all over the city, 94% of whom are Aboriginal. With one of the lowest Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) in the state at 648, it is a priority that we engage with our community and stakeholders to develop strong structures and supports so every child can achieve no matter of their location or personal circumstance. All staff are committed to being culturally responsive. We pride ourselves on having vigorous wrap-around services that emphasise student health and well-being, high-quality teaching and learning, and strong relationships within the school and our community.

All staff members are highly visual around the school and develop strong relationships with our students and their families. Staff have high expectations and a high care attitude, knowing all students by name and with enrolments at a record high at approximately 160 students, this shows a strong sense of belonging, of which we are incredibly proud. The school’s culture is bought into by all, and there is a clear focus on students accessing evidence-based whole-school approaches and having opportunities to embrace, celebrate and learn their culture and language to pass on to future generations and imperative to our reconciliation action plan.

The Role

The successful applicant should support the principal to lead a school environment that excels in the way it cares for its students, and their families, developing positive relationships and partnerships with students, staff and the broader school community. You will ideally possess excellent interpersonal acumen and be an innovative and strategic thinker.

The successful applicant is expected to promote, model and maintain high expectations and, in collaboration with the principal, should lead evidence based whole school approaches in teaching, learning and instruction, as well as student services, for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Importantly, you should lead and support others to create the conditions to continually enhance the quality of teaching and learning, resulting in improved student outcomes. Knowledge of processes relating to student at educational risk and multi-tiered systems of support in desirable.

The successful applicant should work closely with the leadership team to support a clearly articulated strategic direction that is informed by data analysis, is evidence based, and is focused on continually improving students’ academic, social, and emotional progress. You should effectively support explicit teaching and curriculum and should support and lead a clearly defined lesson design across all phases of learning, ensuring effective student engagement.
