Geriatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship
This fellowship offers Advanced Emergency Medicine Trainees the opportunity to subspecialise in Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM). The Fellowship includes half-time dedicated clinical support to enable self-directed learning, while working half-time as a senior registrar in a tertiary mixed Emergency Department.

The role is based in Hobart, Tasmania.
The Role of the Senior Registrar – Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) Fellowship
Learning placements: GEM placements with support of FACEM and Geriatrician supervisors across multiple specialties managing older patients (Geriatrics, Palliative care, Hospital in the Home, Geriatric Evaluation and Management at Home, Trauma, Older Persons Mental Health, Pharmacy, Emergency Medicine Assessment and Management Team, General Practice, Residential Aged Care, Community Rapid Response Allied Health Team).
Research/Quality improvement: Undertake a project with mentorship from the Tasmanian Emergency Research (TASER) group.
Professional development: Attend annual GEMTAS and Trauma in the Older Person Education Days covering core GEM curriculum and other education events.

Employment Details
Classification: Medical Practitioner Level 5‑11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar)
Period of Employment: Fixed term, full time & part time day work, working up to 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training time (pro rata). Commencing 3 August 2026 until 1 February 2027. Length negotiable up to 12 months.
Salary range in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
Qualifications and Registration
* General, limited or provisional registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
