Responsibilities
* Provide expert professional economic support and recommendations (economic advice, carry out both qualitative and quantitative analysis, guidance and research) to the ACCC and/or AER.
* Analyse economic trends and relationships and forecast the impacts of economic changes to inform advice and recommendations.
* Prepare written papers, reports, presentations, speeches and submissions on economic issues for presentation within the ACCC and/or AER, to the Commission and external parties.
* Work collaboratively within teams to employ economic frameworks to assist in investigations and enforcement of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience and/or expertise in competition economics or the ability to demonstrate understanding and application of the economic frameworks relevant to competition economics.
* Demonstrated experience guiding an economics team or similar role in a fast‐paced and large complex people‐centred organisation.
* Seven or more years' experience as an economic adviser and be capable of leading the provision of economic advice to projects, under the general oversight of the ACCC's Chief Economist and Deputy Chief Economists.
* Sound knowledge of the ACCC's role in administering the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and the economic principles relevant to this.
* Very strong communication, advocacy and influencing skills, and the ability to present in a clear, concise and persuasive manner with people at different levels.
* A post‐graduate degree in Economics in industrial organisation, applied microeconomics, econometrics or similar fields.
Benefits
Salary: $148,287 – $173,778 (plus 15.4% superannuation). The successful candidate will be appointed as an EL2 and may attract an additional allowance via an IFA depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. All IFAs are reviewed annually in accordance with the IFA policy and are not ongoing.
