Dynamic and unique opportunity to contribute to the clinical research projects within the Snow Vision Accelerator Full-time, 2-year fixed-term role, with a possible chance of extension Base Salary $122,830 - $145,858 17% superannuation About the opportunity You will work within the Clinical Program of the Snow Vision Accelerator at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) to help build and grow a longitudinal cohort study under the guidance of the clinical lead of the program. The Snow Vision Accelerator is a groundbreaking partnership between the University of Sydney and the Snow Medical Research Foundation, dedicated to transforming the treatment of glaucoma. In this role you will work closely with researchers from the NHMRC CTC and the Camperdown section of the Safe Sight Institute (SSI), which is located at the Charles Perkins Centre, to develop and answer relevant research questions. The NHMRC CTC is a flagship centre of excellence in clinical trials research at the University of Sydney, which designs and delivers all aspects of trials related research. The is one of the top three ophthalmic research institutes in Australia, is internationally recognized as a centre of innovative research into ophthalmology and as a centre of excellence for clinical research, learning and teaching. Your Key Responsibilities will be to: Work closely with the team leader, researchers, chief investigators and key stakeholders to achieve project aims Play a major role in all activities related to the conduct of the research, including the reviewing and updating of research protocols and related documents, assisting with ethics application and coordinating data between various teams Contribute and assist with undertaking administrative requirements of research project management Work independently and as part of a team to undertake activities related to the conduct of quantitative research including reviews of the scientific literature, the preparation of study protocols and related documentation W ork on our translational research program to understand how we can use multi-omics and clinical data to find new therapeutic targets for glaucoma patients Ultimately build an original research project (either independently or as part of a team) within the longitudinal cohort study Develop research collaborations that will ultimately result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice and/or enhancements to industry Assist with future grant applications and supervision of PhD students Assist in building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external collaborators, including clinicians and health-based staff About you have a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline demonstrated previous strong involvement in coordinating a larger clinical study demonstrates previous involvement in clinical trials demonstrates strong expertise in clinical research in the field of ophthalmology including detailed clinical understanding of the disease glaucoma demonstrates strong analysis skills of visual fields, OCTs and other clinically relevant measures demonstrates a track record of impactful research and publications in their field demonstrated experience developing and contributing to research evidence by producing original, high quality and independent research excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff and stakeholders is an excellent mentor for junior scientists as evidenced by supervision, mentoring, and support demonstrates a strong track record of effectively working in multi-disciplinary teams, industry and professional institutions, health partners, and stakeholders.
