About the role
Join the dynamic team at Today News Group as a Journalist covering the Lockyer and Somerset region. Full time or part time, you will be responsible for covering local events, taking photographs and writing local news that informs our growing readership across our print and digital platforms.
What you'll be doing
1. Researching and reporting on a diverse range of local news stories
2. Conducting interviews and gathering information from a variety of sources
3. Writing clear, concise and compelling news articles
4. Collaborating with the editorial team to determine story ideas and develop content strategies
5. Meeting tight deadlines and maintaining a high standard of journalistic integrity
6. Utilising multimedia tools to enhance storytelling, such as photography, video and social media
7. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments
What we're looking for
1. Proven track record as a journalist or writer or photographer
2. Strong research and interview skills
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
5. Passion for news, storytelling and the evolving media landscape
6. Relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, communications or a related field
