About the role
Based at Tamworth Campus, this Temporary Part‑Time (0.6 FTE – 21 hours week, equivalent to 3 days) role until March 2028 requires community coverage and travel to the Quirindi and Gunnedah communities. It supports TAFE NSW in delivering culturally appropriate, community‑informed initiatives for Aboriginal students and communities. As an Aboriginal identified position, the Aboriginal Education and Engagement Coordinator works with internal teams, Aboriginal Community Reference Groups, local businesses and regional stakeholders to ensure programs are delivered with cultural integrity and authenticity. The role contributes to the Reconciliation Implementation Plan, strengthens local engagement pathways to training and employment, and supports strategies that build cultural competence across staff and campuses. You will also help remove participation barriers, provide localised on‑site support, monitor program effectiveness, and foster a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.

About You
You are an Aboriginal professional with strong cultural knowledge and established community connections. You communicate effectively, build productive relationships and bring resilience, integrity and inclusive practice to your work. Organised and proactive, you navigate complex stakeholder environments with confidence and are motivated by improving outcomes and learning experiences for Aboriginal students.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
Aboriginality (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of Candidates selected for an interview must provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
A valid Working with Children Check (required prior to commencement)
Appropriate degree or diploma at AQL levels 5-8 or equivalent vocational and or industrial experience.
Proven ability to engage with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals to foster productive and harmonious working relationships.
Highly Regarded:
Established relationships with the Quirindi and Gunnedah communities, or the ability to develop culturally respectful and meaningful partnerships.
