Job Overview
We are currently seeking an Ecologist to join our team in our Melbourne office to deliver ecological services on a diverse range of natural resource management and infrastructure projects for private and public sector clients. You will benefit from being part of a national Ecology and Environmental Services team that has industry experts across Terrestrial, Marine and Aquatic Ecology and a range of exciting projects across the Asia Pacific Region.
This role is based in our Melbourne office with flexible work arrangements such as work from home, staggered hours, and other flexibility options.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice to a variety of infrastructure and natural resource management projects for private and public sector clients.
* Deliver environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, specifically flora and fauna, biodiversity and habitat.
* Deliver environmental analyses, mapping and high‐quality technical report writing.
* Carry out research and field surveys as required.
* Work across ecology and environmental approvals to deliver desktop and field‐based work packages.
* Liaise with internal and external peers, stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Ecology, Botany, Zoology or a related discipline.
* Identification skills in Victorian flora and/or fauna species and ecological communities.
* 2 years post‐graduate experience within a similar role, ideally within a consulting, construction, or regulatory environment.
* Solid understanding of Commonwealth, state and local government environmental regulations and their application as well as relevant industry standards, practices and approvals processes.
* Knowledge of Victorian environmental legislation training.
* Excellent interpersonal, relationship, communication and client liaison skills.
* Hold a current valid Drivers Licence.
* Ability to work within a multi‐disciplinary team.
* Flexibility to overtime and travel.
* An ability to interpret and carry out instructions while ensuring safety is at the forefront of all operations.
Physical Requirements
* Position includes both office and fieldwork and the applicant must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas for extended periods of time.
