Senior legal counsel/head of legal - 3 month contract

We have an exciting temp opportunity to work at a leading ASX entity in their Superannuation Platforms Team.

Our client's legal, risk and governance team is led by a highly regarded General Counsel and has an immediate need for an highly experienced Platforms/Superannuation legal contractor.

The platforms business is responsible for delivering market-leading investment administration and technology solutions to financial advisors, wealth managers, and their clients. This team is experiencing an exciting period of growth.

The team provides legal advice in matters relating to the ongoing operation and management of superannuation wrap products, IDPS and IDPS‐like products, managed investment schemes, managed portfolios and the distribution of these products to retail customers (primarily through advisers). This includes product development initiatives, other strategic initiatives, marketing and distribution, regulation, offer documents, supporting Boards, advice on errors and incidents, platform development initiatives and rationalisation of legacy product offerings.

• Provide advice on legal and regulatory matters for super and non-super wrap platforms, including product development, platform structures and investment offerings.
• Review regulated documents marketing materials and client communications.
• Provide legal input on operational issues, platform systems and financial services regulatory changes.
• Manage legal risks, incidents, regulatory notifications and oversee external legal counsel as needed.
• Provide advice relating to identified errors and incidents, including notifications to ASIC, APRA, OAIC, AUSTRAC and investor remediation.

• Minimum of 12 years' post-admission experience in financial services law.
• Deep knowledge of superannuation and investment platform regulation.
• Experience in investment and funds law would be beneficial.
• Excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
