The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) helps immigrants and refugees meet their

social, cultural, and economic goals. Comprised of dedicated staff and volunteers, ICA provides

language instruction, support finding housing and employment and a range of other services. In

addition, ICA actively engages our community to strengthen connections between immigrants and

those born in Canada. Through our work, we build a strong, diverse, and vibrant community. ICA

is a welcoming, passionate, and energetic organization that has had a positive impact in the

Greater Victoria region for 50 years.

Provides support, guidance, and direction to the community engagement team in regard to all

components of strategic programming and outreach. Develops and implements programming and

fundraising plans to sustain programming and increase diversity of ICA funding sources. Evaluates

program outcomes and the efficacy of programs and services at regular time intervals and

provides high-level input into outcomes reporting to funders and donors. Serves as internal

champion for fundraising initiatives by developing integrated fundraising plans, building internal

relationships, and collaborating with ICA staff on development opportunities and strategies.

Serves all individuals, including BIPOC, LGBTQ2+, Indigenous, and those with diverse abilities.

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

* Experience in contributing and writing proposals, developing program logic models, and

outcomes-based programming would be an asset.

* Ability to work and effectively communicate at senior level within social services, not-for-profit
* Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills. Work independently with

limited direct supervision.

* Certified Fund-Raising Executive credential preferred, or graduate degree in public policy,

social sciences and marketing or related field, or combination of education, training, and

experience.

* Experience with DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge or another relational database.
* Three years’ experience in fundraising, with proven track record of soliciting gifts and

commitment to ethical best practices.

* Experience working within a unionized environment preferred.
* Proficiency in a settlement and/or resettlement language preferred.
* Indigenous cultural competencies and/or lived experience with Indigenous communities

welcomed.

Job skills and abilities

* Create and communicate a compelling vision for excellence of settlement integration service

delivery and community development to staff, the board, and the community.

* Demonstrate an advanced understanding of social service programming for immigrants,

including knowledge of research and current trends in immigration and settlement/integration,

community development and arts-based processes for immigrant integration.

* Demonstrate knowledge of contract management with various funders and operations

management.

* Demonstrate excellent strategic thinking skills, with the ability to operationalize concepts and

transform ideas into action, as well as apply research findings to ongoing program

development; Contribute to future programming frameworks through an analysis of statistics,

issues, and trends (e.g. immigration, multiculturalism, antiracism) and link these to the

responsibilities, capabilities, and potential of the organization.

* Demonstrate a passion for and commitment to improving the settlement and integration

process of immigrant and refugee newcomers.

* Demonstrate effective use of technology in all aspects of the job.
* Demonstrate a high level of computer proficiency and advanced understanding of data

collection and analysis systems as they pertain to donor development and maintenance.

* Demonstrate excellent computer skills of relational databases such as DonorPerfect.
* Ability to build new and long-term relationships with prospects, donors, and senior level
* Apply strong oral and written communication skills that demonstrate attention to detail,

knowledge of technical writing principles, and clarity of thought; Strong public speaking skills.

* Ability to think strategically and work independently in directing new initiatives or enhancing

existing programs.

* Demonstrate program planning, development, and management skills in accordance with

different funding programs and funders’ guidelines.

* Demonstrate leadership and support the development of leaders.
* Practice time and resource management techniques.
* Demonstrate effective teamwork in a diverse team setting.
* Practice effective interpersonal and intercultural communication techniques, communication,

and consensus-building skills; Demonstrate conflict resolution techniques.

* Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
* Demonstrate networking and relationship building.
* Create and maintain professional boundaries.

Additional information

* Some travel to community locations within Greater Victoria will be required. Occasional travel

to locations in other parts of British Columbia and/or Canada for purposes like professional

development, networking, or conferences may also be required.

* Some work outside of regular office hours, including evenings and weekends, may be

required. Flex time schedules will be made to accommodate non-regular work hours.

* ICA compensates overtime hours with time off in lieu.
* Valid BC driver’s license, favourable driver’s abstract and access to a car would be an asset.
* As a condition of hire, an updated criminal record check, including vulnerable populations

check, WHMIS training and driver’s abstract are required.
