About Us

Are you ready to make a real impact and be part of a dynamic agency safeguarding State's worker's compensation and home building compensation schemes? We're on the hunt for an exceptional Senior Investigator with a background in regulatory and criminal investigation to work with our Workers & Home Building Compensation Regulation (WHBCR) Investigations team.

The WHBCR Investigations team is responsible for conducting investigating into offences against the workers compensation and home building insurance schemes. We're determined to be a formidable regulator, driving positive change in behaviour, and ensuring strict compliance across the schemes.

Your responsibilities will include

* Prepare, oversee, and undertake complex compliance and investigation activities, delivering risk-based regulatory programs to enhance compliance.
* Lead proactive compliance operations.
* Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders, maximizing regulatory outcomes and reducing negative impacts on the schemes regulated by SIRA.
* Keep abreast of relevant legislation, policy, and procedures, setting an example of exemplary regulatory practice for the NSW community.
* Gather and review evidence, prepare and maintain records, documents, submissions, and reports, recommending appropriate actions to decision-makers and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
* Mentor and coach team members to develop their capabilities, enabling the delivery of innovative regulatory services.
* Offer expert advice to senior managers on significant developments and compliance objectives, contributing to business planning and performance.

About you:

* Certificate IV of Government Investigations or similar qualifications
* Proven expertise in supervising operational staff, providing invaluable support and mentorship in high-pressure environments.
* Expertise in conducting high-quality complex investigations into fraud and/or industry misconduct, and proven ability to identify and manage operational risks.
* A track record of skilfully conducting and overseeing investigations and inspections, proficiently gathering evidence, and preparing prosecution briefs. Superior knowledge of the criminal law, rules of evidence, criminal procedures, and administrative law.
* Familiarity with electronic Investigation Case Management Systems, enhancing your efficiency and effectiveness.
* Advanced communication skills, producing timely, well-crafted reports, and effortlessly engaging with stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
* Demonstrated experience in devising and executing successful compliance programs.
