Water & Sewer Operators are field based roles that contribute to critical service delivery of water supply and sewerage services for the Mid-Western Region Community. This entry level role offers on‑job training and formalised qualifications to enable career progression.
About The Role
This role offers a perfect entry-level opportunity into the Water & Sewer industry. You will carry out manual tasks associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of water supply and sewerage systems and facilities, ensuring safe, healthy water supply and sewerage services that are critical to community health and environmental sustainability.

Working with experienced Operators and Technical Leads who will mentor you through tasks such as:
* Construction and maintenance works on water supply and wastewater mains
* Installation, repair and maintenance of water supply and wastewater services and related infrastructure
* Excavation and site preparation works safely and efficiently
* Responding to water main breaks and assisting with emergency repairs
* Maintaining plant, tools and equipment in good working order
* Representing Council professionally within the community
Salary and Benefits
* Gross fortnightly salary of $2,268.10 – $2,536.90 (annual $58,970.60 – $65,959.40) plus superannuation (12% as of Nov 2025)
* Hourly rate of $29.84 – $33.38 (based on experience) with annual performance reviews and Award increases
* Adverse working conditions allowance of $100.86 per fortnight
* On-call allowance and overtime after qualifying and training period
* 9-day fortnight and long service leave after 5 years
* Working in other areas of the LGA as required; Mudgee based role
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
* Current Class C Driver's Licence
* School Certificate or equivalent qualification
* Experience in manual labour work
* Commitment to rostered duties (including weekdays, weekends, evenings) for essential operation and maintenance
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of WHS responsibilities and commitment to WHS training
This role requires a satisfactory Police History Criminal Check prior to commencing.
