Your New Role and Responsibilities
The Applications Specialist is responsible for the support, configuration, administration, and optimisation of mission‑critical aviation systems. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the ongoing viability, reliability, and integrity of mission systems through effective application support, integration management, and close collaboration with engineering and operational stakeholders.
In addition to core mission‑system responsibilities, the role provides secondary application support coverage across selected Airborne Solutions platforms where operational dependency or overlap exists. This secondary coverage supports continuity and resilience and does not transfer system ownership from existing application or business owners.
As part of the Mission Systems team, the Applications Specialist acts as a technical specialist for mission‑system workflows, integrations, data flows, and user support within a regulated aviation environment.
* Support and maintain aviation mission systems underpinning AMSA and ABF operations, including configuration changes, updates, regression testing, release coordination, and system onboarding, training, and user troubleshooting.
* Liaise with software developers, engineering teams, system users, and vendors to triage, escalate, and resolve incidents and defects, including during major incidents, leave periods, and operational events.
* Maintain, monitor, and validate integration data flows and application interfaces to ensure data accuracy, operational integrity, and continuity across dependent systems (e.g. Ramco, EFB platforms, Air Maestro).
* Develop and maintain system documentation, configurations, procedures, and user guidance, and support audit, compliance, and assurance activities (CASA, internal QA, ESC).
* Collaborate with IT security to meet cybersecurity and access‑control requirements, and assist with data extraction, reporting, and analytics to support operational decision‑making.
What You’ll Bring to Make An Impact
* Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise or mission‑critical applications in complex operational environments.
* Experience supporting systems involving software, networking, and hardware components, with strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and operational domains.
* Desirable experience supporting aviation mission or operational systems, including exposure to regulated operational environments.
* Experience or willingness to learn SQL, reporting tools, system integrations (including APIs), data validation and master data management, and cybersecurity and identity governance.
Don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes – if you meet most of them, we encourage you to submit your application. We’re most interested in your strengths, what you want to learn and how far you want to go.
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be willing to obtain and hold a Baseline or greater security clearance and be willing and eligible to obtain an ESC.
