About the School
Commencing operations at the beginning of ****, the new School of IT provides excellent teaching and research facilities, with over 35 academic staff.
The school offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses located in Perth and transnationally in Singapore, Dubai, and Malaysia.
Research strengths include Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing and Computer Graphics, Cyber Security and Networking, and Business information Systems.
Student numbers are growing to around **** in Perth and 500+ transnationally.
The Role
We are seeking passionate teachers and researchers at the Lecturer B and C levels who have interests in teaching and research in the following areas:
Games Development
Software development & Financial technology
Cybersecurity and Networking
Combinations of the above and interest in developing industry links and research projects across IT
Academic staff are expected to contribute to research and HDR supervision as well as teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in IT, including Networking, AI, Computer Science, Games Technology and Design, Business Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Analytics, and Financial Technology.
Develop and maintain a strong research portfolio, aligning with one or more of the four existing research groups: Business Information Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision; Cyber Security and Computer Networks; eXtended Reality, Visualisation and Simulation.
Seek and develop external collaborations and research projects within Murdoch and with industry partners.
Fulfil HDR supervision duties as required.
Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, IT, software engineering or closely related field, or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in teaching IT subjects at undergraduate or postgraduate level, or two or more years of postdoctoral or equivalent professional experience.
Peer-reviewed publications and, ideally, industry experience relevant to the chosen area.
Knowledge of contemporary curriculum and pedagogical approaches.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently under broad direction and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
Hospitality to develop external collaborations and outreach.
Remuneration and Benefits
This continuous full-time (37.5 hours per week) position offers Level B remuneration of $113,247–$134,148 and Level C remuneration of $138,321–$159,219 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.
