Lead Operator – Wall Line & Transport Preparation

Job Summary

The Lead Operator – Wall Line & Transport Preparation is responsible for safe and efficient operation of our vertical wall line to assemble and load wall cassettes. This station is where the finishing touches are applied including glazing elements and external cladding, before being loaded and secured onto our transport stillages for delivery. The role involves leading and training staff & contractors to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards, while delivering on time.

Responsibilities

* Adhere to and promote company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for everyone to work in.
* Complete pre‑start checks on equipment (includes calibrations, checking and loading tools and overall machine functionality).
* Load / unload materials, ensuring appropriate manual handling techniques are followed.
* Supervise the installation of glazing and external cladding, and make adjustments as needed to ensure production matches design.
* Provide training and guidance to staff and contractors, ensuring operation in accordance with safety and quality guidelines.
* Conduct light maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning tools, and report any other maintenance issues to manufacturing management team.
* Manage stock levels of raw materials and consumables.
* Be accountable for quality control to ensure product is consistent with drawings and standard details.
* Use and promote the use of digital systems provided (e.g. Unleashed, InnDex) to aid in file transfer, inventory management and WHS management.
* Safe loading of cassettes and equipment onto stillages and trucks in compliance with GTT and NHVR requirements.
* Operate any and all workstations (and as you are qualified and trained to operate) as business needs require.
* Perform other duties as required relevant to carrying out factory operations, e.g. operating forklift, unloading deliveries, operate the manual production line.

About you

* Dedicated to fostering a culture of safety, with a proven track record of adhering to and championing company safety policies and regulations.
* 5+ years of experience in residential construction or prefabricated housing manufacturing in a supervisory role.
* Exceptional precision and a keen eye for detail, thriving in roles that require meticulousness and accuracy.
* Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and an understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles.
