Midtown Pet Centre is a caring pet boarding business in Tallebudgera Valley on the Gold Coast, offering a high standard of accommodation and care for dogs and cats.
We arelooking for an Animal Attendantto join our team as a casual employee (although part-time and full-time positions may be available for the correct candidate). TheAnimal Attendant is required for the overall care of all our pet guests. For now, the role will require the applicant to work 1 x 9 hour shift per week from 7am to 5pm, increasing to up to 5 shifts per week over the peak holiday season. Weekend work (Saturdays and Sundays) paid at the relevant penalty rates may be available if preferred.
The Responsibilities of the position will include (but are not limited to):
Walking dogs in the morning (7:30am-9:00am) and afternoons (2:30-4:00pm)
Oversee and participate in the preparation and cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining comfortable enclosures for all pets (cats & dogs).
Health checks, administration of medication if required and maintaining animal records.
Undertaking / ensuring animal hygiene and wellness.
Ensure the highest standard for our pet guests physical and emotional welfare needs are met through a variety of exercise, handling and personal attention as required.
Oversee and participate in feeding, hydro bathing/grooming, training and caring for all our pet guests.
Supervising and arranging play sessions for our dog guests in our off-leash fenced exercise yard.
Attributes:
Must be confident in handling animals (particularly larger dogs) and reading dog & cat body language. Horse or other farm experience or previous dog handling experience in a work environment would be highly regarded.
Must be mentally and physically solid(you will cover 15,000+ steps on busy days).
Must have the ability to plan and deliver set tasks efficiently and on time.
Must be capable of working well in a small team and maintaining strong working relationships with other staff
Role requires a highly motivated self-starter, must hold all the listed skills above at a high standard, must enjoy life with our pet guests and be fully committed to it.
Must be available for school holidays and prepared to work some weekends.
Must be able to work autonomously and multitask in a sometimes pressured environment.
Have a current Driver’s Licence and your own vehicle.
