Retail Manager – Grange Fruit Market (Adelaide, SA)
Grange Fruit Market is a locally owned supermarket specialising in fresh fruit and vegetables, alongside a wide range of grocery items. As our business continues to grow, we’re now seeking an experienced Retail Manager to lead our store, support our team, and drive future growth.
The Role
As Retail Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our supermarket in a fast-paced workplace. You’ll be responsible for staff leadership, stock management, supplier negotiations, and financial performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational efficiency with outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and control daily supermarket operations.
- Manage staff: rostering, training, and performance management.
- Plan and execute sales, promotions, and product displays.
- Set product pricing, monitor stock levels, and coordinate supplier orders.
- Negotiate bulk-buying deals with suppliers.
- Manage accounts, payroll, wages, and budgeting.
- Ensure WHS compliance and a protected working environment.
- Monitor sales performance, prepare reports, and identify growth opportunities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve escalated issues.
- Manage product selection, purchasing, and stock control with a strong focus on local and Asian grocery lines, including culturally significant and seasonal items.
- Plan and prepare for peak demand during cultural festivals and seasonal periods, ensuring product availability, accurate pricing, and effective promotions to meet the needs of a diverse customer base.
- Use ProfitTrack software for ordering, stock management, pricing, and reporting.
- Foster a positive work culture; ensure staff understands products, cultural awareness (Indian, Nepalese, Middle Eastern etc.).
About You
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Retail Manager or similar role (required).
- Diploma in Project Management / Leadership / Management or a higher qualification (required).
- Proficiency in Profit Track software (required).
- Robust leadership, organisation, and multitasking skills.
- Confident negotiator with proven supplier management experience.
- Skilled in staff management, rostering, and stock control.
- Financial acumen: accounts, wages, payroll, and reporting.
- Knowledge of supermarket product lines and seasonal produce (advantage).
- Flexibility to work weekends and during busy trading periods.
- Strong knowledge of Indian, Middle Eastern, South Asian, Italian groceries and fresh produce (advantage)
- Familiarity with Asian grocery lines (including Indian products) and seasonal or festival-related demand planning (advantage)
