Research Opportunity in Animal Behaviour
Macquarie University is seeking a qualified researcher to join a team with an international reputation for producing high-quality research outcomes in the area of animal behaviour. The project involves establishing and imaging butterfly courtship interactions within experimental enclosures, aiming to reconstruct the visual circumstances leading up to mate detection.
The successful candidate will contribute to an Australian Research Council funded project investigating how visual parameters are used to detect target stimuli under challenging visual conditions. The role requires establishing experimental arenas and associated infrastructure, undertaking fieldwork in tropical North Queensland, performing behavioural presentations, extracting and analysing 3-dimensional object tracking data, and leading the preparation of scientific publications.
* The ideal candidate will have a PhD in animal ecology/behaviour or a related discipline and experience working with butterflies in either field or laboratory environments.
* A strong publication record demonstrating expertise in original experimental research is essential.
About the Role
