In response to an increase in client demand, Inverus Group® is now hiring a full‑time Senior (Protective) Security Engineer to support the steady growth of our security consultancy and design business.

The Role
As a Senior (Protective) Security Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering integrated physical and electronic security design services across a diverse portfolio of high‑security built‑environment projects. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure security solutions are technically sound, risk‑based and compliant with applicable frameworks and standards.
This role requires project related travel across Australia and the Asia‑Pacific/Japan region.
Key responsibilities
* Delivering integrated physical and electronic security system designs
* Designing CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, perimeter intrusion detection, intercom and ICT systems
* Designing physical security measures such as vehicle and pedestrian barriers, CPTED, lighting, fencing, gates and architectural/facility construction requirements etc
* Development of design drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, cost estimates and schedules from concept to IFC
* Coordination of security design tasks with other project or client-based security, engineering or design stakeholders
* Review of tender submissions, preparation of assessment and evaluation criteria and reports, attendance at meetings and responses to RFI’s
* Construction phase tasks such as responses to RFI’s, documentation submission reviews, site inspections, meetings, testing, commissioning and training
About You
As someone who prides themselves on professionalism, attention to detail, integrity and technical expertise, you will possess:
* 10+ years’ experience in protective security engineering within the built environment
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design, documentation and commissioning of video surveillance, intruder detection systems, electronic access control systems and associated specialist electronic security related subsystems
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design and documentation of physical security measures including CPTED, architectural security measures, barriers, gates, turnstiles, fences, lighting, etc
* Familiarity with PSPF, relevant AS/NZS standards, the Hosting Certification Framework (HCF), and the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) regulatory environment
* Experience designing for or supporting compliance within high‑security or critical infrastructure environments
* Strong technical documentation and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications & experience
* Bachelor of Engineering (Communications, Electronic or Electrical), or equivalent industry experience
* Knowledge or experience working with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), SOCI Act and Regulations, ENA-015 2022, ASIO T4 Technical Standards, Hosting Certification Framework (HCF) or the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF)
* Experience working with Data Centres, Australian Utilities Companies, Defence, D&C Contractors, Tier 1 & 2 Consultancies, Government owned companies, local government, state government, commonwealth government
* Experience using Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD and/or BIM platforms (advantageous)
* Current SCEC Security Zone Consultant Endorsement (highly desirable)
Employment Requirements
Must have the legal right to work in Australia, and the:
* Ability to obtain or hold an AGSVA security clearance in line with AGSVA/PSPF requirements
* Ability to obtain and maintain relevant state‑based security licensing (QLD, NSW, VIC and/or ACT)
* Willingness to undertake regular domestic and Asia‑Pacific travel
