Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and purpose-driven leader to step into the role of General Manager, NT & RHD Lead. This position has both regional and national significance, providing strategic leadership for our initiatives across the Northern Territory, while also spearheading our national work in contributing to the elimination of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Australia.
* Lead the Heart Foundation's strategy and operations in the Northern Territory.
* Build and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders across government, health, and community sectors.
* Drive impactful advocacy and contribute to national policy change on cardiovascular health and RHD.
* Represent the organization in media, public forums, and stakeholder engagements.
* Provide cultural leadership and support community-led responses to heart health, especially within First Nations communities.
* Collaborate with national teams to align regional efforts with strategic goals.
About the Role
This role provides an opportunity to work flexibly, with options to work in our Darwin office or from home. Occasional travel is required. We are open to considering a part-time (0.8) or full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:
* Develop and implement strategies to improve heart health outcomes in the Northern Territory.
* BUILD AND STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIPS WITH KEY STAKEHOLDERS.
* CONTRIBUTE TO NATIONAL POLICY CHANGE ON CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH AND RHD.
* REPRESENT THE ORGANIZATION IN MEDIA, PUBLIC FORUMS, AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENTS.
* SUPPORT COMMUNITY-LED RESPONSES TO HEART HEALTH, ESPECIALLY WITHIN FIRST NATIONS COMMUNITIES.
* COLLBORATE WITH NATIONAL TEAMS TO ALIGN REGIONAL EFFORTS WITH STRATEGIC GOALS.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
* Tertiary qualifications and experience in public health, medicine, policy, advocacy, or community services.
* Demonstrated cultural competence in working with First Nations peoples.
* Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience in developing and delivering advocacy strategies and policy submissions.
* Knowledge of cardiovascular health, and ideally, ARF and RHD.
* A passion for health equity and a commitment to improving outcomes for priority populations.
