PACU is a high acuity area given the potential for rapid and unexpected patient deterioration and adverse events. Nursing staff employed to PACU will ensure patients are safe for discharge from PACU to the ward. The PACU environment demands meticulous monitoring, prompt recognition of clinical changes, and swift interventions to mitigate risks and ensure optimal patient outcomes. Nurses in this critical care setting must possess exceptional critical thinking abilities, prioritization skills, and the capacity to remain composed under pressure while delivering comprehensive, compassionate care. About the role: Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, some of your duties as the Registered Nurse within the PACU may involve: Assessing individual patient/client needs, planning, implementing and/or coordinating appropriate service delivery from a range of options including other disciplines or agencies. Providing direct person-centred nursing care and/or individual case management to patients on a shift by shift basis in a defined clinical area. Participating in evaluative research activities within the practice setting. Undertaking training as required to attain and maintain the required competency of skills and knowledge applicable to your role. About you: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. Demonstrated experience in PACU nursing practice. Effective communication skills including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
