Turnweld Engineering is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Coolum Beach, Queensland. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in providing accurate cost estimates and proposals for our construction projects, ensuring the financial viability and success of our business. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What you'll be doing
* Preparing detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment requirements
* Liaising with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information
* Analysing project plans, specifications, and drawings to identify potential cost‑saving opportunities
* Preparing comprehensive and competitive proposals for clients
* Maintaining a thorough understanding of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs
* Collaborating with the project team to ensure the timely delivery of cost estimates and proposals
* Providing support and guidance to junior estimating staff, as required
What we're looking for
* Minimum 3 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and equipment
* Proficiency in using estimating software and spreadsheet applications
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present proposals and negotiate with clients and suppliers
* Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field would be highly regarded
