Details: Do you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy working with a diverse team, and adapt quickly to change? Payroll Services is seeking motivated Payroll Officers to help deliver accurate and timely pay services across the ACT Public Service.

What the role involves

As a Payroll Officer, you'll play a key part in administering pay and conditions for more than 30,000 ACTPS employees. This is a high‑volume, operational role where no two days look the same.

What you'll bring

* Strong multitasking skills: With around 15,000 payroll actions processed every fortnight, you'll need to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
* Deadline‑driven mindset: Each pay cycle runs on a strict nine‑day schedule. You'll enjoy working to clear timeframes and delivering results under pressure.
* Comfort in a busy operational setting: There's always work coming in, and you'll thrive in an environment where you can stay productive and engaged.
* Excellent customer service: You'll communicate daily with ACTPS employees, providing clear and helpful information about pay and entitlements.
* Ability to interpret legislation and agreements: Payroll operates across 18 Enterprise Agreements and multiple legislative frameworks. You'll apply these accurately to ensure correct outcomes.
* Collaborative approach: You'll be part of a large, supportive team of over 100 people with varied backgrounds and experience.
* High attention to detail: Many tasks are manual, so precision and accuracy are essential.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
