ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

About the role

The Salvation Army's Family Violence Stream is seeking two passionate and skilled Specialist Family Violence Practitioners to join the Karratha Women and Children's Centre (KWCC). KWCC provides crisis accommodation and case management support to women experiencing family and domestic violence, homelessness and other crises. These permanent, full-time roles offer the opportunity to walk alongside women as they rebuild safety, stability and confidence. Pay is in accordance with the SCHADS Level 5 Award.

In this role, you will provide trauma-informed, client-centred case management, crisis response and ongoing assessment. You will support women to identify their goals, access holistic services, strengthen community connections and navigate complex systems. Applicants with strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly Aboriginal women, are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will also contribute to the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-organised environment for all who access the service.

How you will make an impact

* Building strong, respectful relationships that promote self-determination and empowerment

* Providing high-quality case management aligned with TSA's Family Violence Model of Care

* Completing ongoing assessments and developing collaborative, goal-focused case plans

* Supporting clients to access services, advocacy and community connections

* Monitoring progress, reviewing plans and adjusting support as needs change

* Maintaining accurate, timely case notes and data using TSA systems

* Identifying and escalating risks to ensure client and staff safety

* Assisting with service delivery needs such as client transport, activities, preparing units and general site support

* Participating in supervision, case reviews, team meetings and training

* Contributing to a positive, collaborative and culturally safe workplace

What you will bring

* A relevant qualification such as Social Work, Community Services, Welfare or equivalent experience

* Demonstrated ability to deliver trauma-informed, client-centred support in a community services setting

* Given that many women accessing KWCC are Aboriginal, an understanding of cultural needs, including women's business and culturally sensitive practices is essential.

* Strong time-management skills and confidence working autonomously

* Excellent written and digital record-keeping skills

* Integrity and resilience

* Ability to build trust and work respectfully with women from diverse backgrounds

* WA Driver's Licence

* First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

What we offer

* NFP salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 tax free) and Entertainment Benefit ($2,650 tax free)

* Flexible working arrangements

* Employee Assistance Program – confidential counselling service

* Financial, retail and lifestyle discounts

* Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport

* Up to 8 weeks of leave per year through our purchase leave scheme

* Generous parental leave (12 weeks)

* Up to 5 days paid leave per year to support a TSA program or activity

* A supportive, inclusive culture with passionate and dedicated team members

* The opportunity to make a meaningful difference through your contribution to family and domestic violence services

How to apply

If you are committed to supporting women experiencing family violence and want to be part of a team that creates safety, dignity and hope, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application, including a resume and cover letter, outlining your suitability for the role.

The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.
