Position Information Illawarra Sports High School was established as a partially selective sports high school in ****.
Enrolment numbers for **** are at 940 students, and talented athletes are drawn from across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Sutherland councils.
The student population is diverse with students from varying cultural backgrounds and there is an Autism Support Unit, Elouera, that currently consists of seven classes.
There is also a significant enrolment of Aboriginal students (17%) and we are committed to closing the gap between the educational outcomes of indigenous and nonindigenous students.
Illawarra Sports High School has a very committed teaching and non teaching staff and has an established reputation for sporting success and a growing reputation for emphasising high academic expectations of all students.

Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach Mathematics 7-12 and capacity and willingness to teach Mathematics Extension 1 and 2.
Demonstrated ability to lead colleagues, within and across faculties, utilise formative and summative assessment to plan, implement and review new curriculum, within a framework of backward mapping skill development leading to improved learning outcomes.
Proven expertise in visible and proactive school leadership, working in successful collaboration with the executive to develop and support whole school policies, priorities and initiatives in the School Excellence Plan.
Proven ability to build a culture of high expectations, support new teachers, lead future focused thinking, and guide curriculum development to inspire and strengthen Mathematics and Visual Art teachers in improving outcomes for all learners.
Proven capacity to build positive relationships and engagement across the school community which helps to create a vibrant and positive school culture of respect and learning.
General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes.
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education's Aboriginal education policy.
