We have regular opportunities in the Brisbane &/or greater QLD region and are seeking experienced Civil Roadworks Supervisors – interested in joining us for initial 1‐2 year assignments with a view to extensions and/or ongoing roles. The goal is to transition from a Civil Supervisor to a TMR "Pre‐Qualified Civil Roadworks / Structures Inspector" or client‐side role for TMR, councils or consultants.
The purpose of these roles is to help deliver the construction of roadworks projects to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) quality specifications and standards.
Responsibilities
* Use knowledge of TMR policies, standards and specifications and be able to read, understand and interpret technical documents and standards;
* Keen observation skills to identify conforming or 'non‐conforming' road construction materials and practices.
* Confident use of a mobile phone and/or tablet to take, store and upload photos to government portals (cloud storage).
* Prepare written documents including daily diaries and reports;
* Communicate with all stakeholders and keep them informed of progress and quality of works;
* Provide effective administration and documentation as required;
* Demonstrate a professional commitment to the health and safety of staff, contractors and site visitors in line with company policy;
* Computer skills in Microsoft Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, file management and email are a distinct advantage.
Mandatory Experience
The person applying for this role must have a minimum of 5‐7 years of practical experience in road works construction and at least 2 years of crew supervision of road projects to TMR (or any other Australian road construction authority) standards.
Note: This client requirement rules out candidates from overseas without Australian road construction experience.
Must have a driver's licence and access to own transport to travel from home to site.
Preference for an own mobile phone.
Preference will also be given to someone already living in Brisbane or Queensland or willing to relocate there. The proposed hours are nominally 40 per week, although there is no guarantee that the hours will not vary due to project demands. Some Saturday and Sunday work may be required but this is anticipated to be minimal.
